Lucky Break

It’s so cool when you are able to fix a problem for someone but you really know nothing about it. I was able to fix someones downloaded asp calander merely by following a link at the bottom of the page they created that took me to the answer in 30 seconds. They couldn’t write to the calendar because the user didn’t have write permissions set correctly on the folder.
On one hand I don’t think they tried very hard at all to fix it on their own, BUT I am painfully aware that sometimes when you’re trying to solve a problem you can get REALLY REALLY far down the wrong track. You can get so tangled up in thinking that one thing is the problem that you can’t see what the problem really is no matter how hard you look.

At that point the only way to solve it is to erase all your preconceptions about solving it. The way I do this is to ignore it for about a week until I can’t remember quite why it didn’t work in the first place and then I actually have to study the problem from the beginning again.
